Transportation Assistance
A metro bus pass is provided for one year. This allows the newcomer to travel throughout the Halifax HRM area for all purposes whether it be job search or social. Additionally, CFR helps new refugees in obtaining information about routes and the Halifax Regional Municipality area.
Buses
Halifax Transit has dozens of routes that travel locally as well as to suburban and outer areas in the city. Also, Halifax transit offers an Urban Express which provides a limited-stop service within the urban core so that you can make your commute on time. Besides, Halifax Transit operates three Regional Express limited-stop routes that transport passengers to and from the downtown areas of Halifax. If you're waiting at a Halifax Transit stop with a phone handy, you can utilize the Departures Time Line service. This service provides you with real-time information regarding the estimated arrival times of your next bus and any possible unexpected delays.
Ferry
Halifax Transit provides two ferry services: the Alderney Ferry, which connects Halifax to Alderney Landing in downtown Dartmouth, and the Woodside Ferry, which links Halifax to Woodside. Both locations feature Park & Ride lots. These ferry services are wheelchair accessible and seamlessly integrated with the bus network. You can utilize a transfer to transition between ferries and buses.
Access-A-Bus
If you face mobility challenges that could hinder your use of buses or ferries, Access-A-Bus is here to help. Access-A-Bus is a shared ride, door-to-door transit service designed for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities who are unable to use the standard transit system. This service is available to assist with transportation to medical appointments and to enable you to engage in social, personal, and recreational activities.
Ticket & Transfer
You can obtain Halifax Transit tickets, monthly passes, and Regional Express XPasses through Halifax Transit's retail partners. Transfers can be used on all Halifax Transit routes and services and remain valid for up to 90 minutes after the route's completion.Additional transfer fares are required for Regional Express service.
